The downfall of humanity.

Yahoo News Article

That article up there. Doom for humanity. If you don’t care to read it, it’s basically saying that they’re working on creating life from scratch, and it seems pretty straight-forward. I don’t know how trustworthy the news source is, but that’s not the point really. If I could direct your attention to the last paragraph.

“When these things are created, they’re going to be so weak, it’ll be a huge achievement if you can keep them alive for an hour in the lab,” he said. “But them getting out and taking over, never in our imagination could this happen.”

Apparently, the scientists do not understand evolution very well. Or perhaps they plan to let evolution work until they decide to cut it off, and hope that does the trick. HAVE THEY NOT SEEN ANY MOVIE CREATED EVER?!?

Mr. Frankenstein, for instance.

I wish you well, scientists, and I hope that your mutated babies don’t horrify you, so that you may care for them and shape them into creepy productive members of society. My thoughts are that there will be a bunch of places using these creatures for the good of humanity, and the world. But for every responsible lab with fantastic ethics, and good science there will be a hack job, or evil company that will use this science for their own profit and fuck everything up. This can only end in tears.

I am totally in love with milk in a glass bottle. T’were it a lass, I should ask for its hand. Forsooth.

Wiiiii!

Oh man. Wii is so cool! Boyfriend’s Dad’n'Joe bought one for us (Well, probably for him, but it lives in my bedroom, which means that it’s mine.) YAY!!! We got the wireless thingy all set up and Boyfriend played original Super Mario Bros. All is right in the world. ^.^ My arms hurt! Wiiiii!

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
I made a Mii Alien. His name is Zorknut and he has antennae.

So, here are a couple pictures of the things I’ve been working on:

Stash Buster Vest

Stash Buster Vest

Ta da! I like the colours on this. I don’t have much “stash” to “bust”, but I’m totally busting the crap out of it anyway…

Pink Ruffle Baby Sweater

Pink Ruffle Baby Sweater

It needs buttons, but other than that it’s all done. I keep putting it off, though because my sister’s neighbour has babies and I want to put one in it just to see how it looks on an actual baby. These are what I crochet for the Women’s Hospital Gift Shop as a volunteer. I think I get better at them with each one I make. Which is… you know… encouraging. ^.^

Telephone

I got a new cellular telephone from Telus. It looks like a Batmobile, and has a seperate button for each letter of the alphabet.

I swore up and down that I was NOT NOT NOT going to renew with Telus, but honestly… I think every other phone provider sucks about the same amount of ass, and Telus has been giving me free things for a long time now… I’m tired. It is bedtime.

Knitting?

So, I want to make some socks. Mostly because I have this nice alpaca sock yarn… Apparently the only way to create socks from yarn is by knitting it. I can’t find any crochet patterns. I figure I’ll learn to knit me some socks. My Nanny taught me to knit a million years ago, but I was about 7 so it consisted of knitknitknitknitoops, then you gave the square to Nanny and she fixed it, knitknitknitknitoops… etc. There were about 20 colour coded squares at Nanny’s because I have a million cousins, and I’m sure they all stayed being useless unfinished squares.

Aaanyhow, I suppose later in life I felt like knitting, and my dad taught me how to cast on like my Nan. I suppose this, because I can remember how to do it. So today I learned how to knit and purl from the interwub, and I have a zillion patterns lined up that are all too complex. I’m going to take the simple bits from all of them and go crazytown on some ribbed sockies. Hoorah! (It’s not going over to the project progress metres yet, though.)

Put on your red shoes and DO the blues.

I saw Eagle vs. Shark yesterday. OMG funny. I want to watch it again so I can -absorb- it. It was so awkward that I wanted to send the entire cast of characters to therapy. Lily is adorable, and I want to move to New Zealand.

Okay, now it’s time to do a project update! Everyone dance! It’s project update time! Praw-ject! Up-date! La-di-da-di-daaaaawh!

Pink Ruffle Baby Sweater needs buttons and button holes, and that is all! I also want to get a little ruffle hat done too. I should really jot down a pattern for that, because winging it every time is actually frustrating… and I’ve only done it twice.

Stash Buster Vest is inching along slowly. It’s odd that I don’t really have a stash to bust. I actually slammed it into my bag today, so I got an ass-load of rows done. Hoot! It was iffy, though because the ball of yarn I’m using is the size of my HEAD. It was a present from the lady I was working for.

NEW PROJECT! I am making a halter top for that lady I was working for. We shall call her ‘S’. She’s very sweet, and I’m going to miss her. I picked up my last cheque today. I had told her previously that I would like to make for her a shirt, and today she gave me the shirt she wants me to use as a guide. I haven’t actually looked at it yet. I was going to try and find a halter pattern to go from, but they are all ass… I might wing it and find a pretty stitch for the edges. Or maybe use some lovely fabric that would also make a nice tie, or something. I am such a noob. I’m excited! Hoooo!

Fired

I got fired this morning.

YAY!

I’ve never been fired before. On one hand I’m glad, because… four day weekend. On the other hand I’m sad because the chick I was hired to help out still needs my help, but her boss doesn’t want to pay to keep me on. As if my paltry wages were breaking his bank. What a douche.

I’m going to go back in on Friday to pick up a shirt that she wants me to crochet a copy of, and to pick up my sad little cheque. Actually, it probably wont be so bad, because I haven’t been paid in like… a month and a half. I would like to tell her to quit, but I don’t think she will. I think she would be way better off in the long run if she bailed. This is my sad face.

Cat Felt Necklace

Completed!

Cat Felt Necklace DetailThe necklace part is made of hemp. The silver beads were salvaged from some really hideous old jewelry. There’s a little shiny one in between them that’s probably made out of glass. The felt bead I made by brushing my kittycat, rolling the fur into a ball, needle felting it, and then wet felting it as an experiment. I like how it turned out. Click the pictures to see them bigger.

P.S. I found the battery recharger! It was right where it was supposed to be!

FYI, I have it set so that when you comment I have to approve you the first time, but after that you’re free to post willy-nilly, or whatever you like.

Powerless

My camera is an empty, useless shell. I cannot, for the life of me, find the battery recharger anywhere. Of course the kitchen is a disaster zone, so perhaps it has sunk into a pile of nuclear waste.

I’m baking cookies, but don’t worry I wiped the nuclear waste off the cookie baking areas.

I sure would like to take a picture of this Cat Felt that I made, so you can see it. It’s seriously… something. Fuzzy, and queer. I’m making a hemp necklace to display it on. Rock.

Cat Felt

I made a small felt ball out of cat fur today. I’m going to make a necklace out of it and weird people out. Hoorah! It is still damp.

P.S. I made some progress bars over yonder ->

Now you can see what I am up to. Perchance I will write posts regarding my progress, and include photographs!
